A brand guide that expands Clif Bar’s visual identity and creative direction while maintaining consistency through clear, intentional guidelines.
Problem. When working with an established brand, guidelines are essential to maintain consistency, accessibility, and proper usage across all touchpoints. These systems define how elements such as color, typography, hierarchy, and layout should be used to ensure the brand remains unified and recognizable. However, during the creation of a new brand or a rebrand, these guidelines do not always evolve at the same pace as the visual identity. Without clear and updated direction, inconsistencies can emerge, leading to misuse of the brand and a loss of cohesion across platforms. Concept. With the rebrand of Clif Energy Bar, the brand guide should reflect the same level of creativity and intention as the updated identity itself. Rather than acting only as a rulebook, the guide becomes an extension of the brand, showcasing its visual language while reinforcing how it should be used.The goal is to create a guide that not only informs, but also visually represents the tone, energy, and direction of the rebrand. Solution. Develop a brand guide that balances clarity with creative expression. Introduce updated imagery and dynamic typographic layouts to reflect the new identity, while clearly defining rules for typography, color usage, and composition. Provide structured guidance alongside visual examples to demonstrate correct application, ensuring consistency without limiting creative flexibility. The result is a system that is both easy to follow and visually aligned with the brand itself.
